Tales of Modern Homesteading and Outdoor Adventure

September 10, 2015

Full Woodshed

“The youth gets together
his materials to build a bridge to the moon, or, perchance, a palace or
temple on the earth, and, at length, the middle-aged man concludes to
build a woodshed with them.”

~Henry David Thoreau

There are few things I love more than a full wood shed, the result of the combined efforts of big and small. I used to want to build that bridge to the moon, now hubby and I are perfectly content to fill the wood shed. Wish you a lovely weekend, from Pam in Norway

Thanks Pam! I imagine in Norway you and your hubby go through a lot of firewood too. I have found along the way that my bridge to the moon led me to a homestead with a woodstove 🙂

Welcome

Out here in Oregon, I enjoy the rough-hewn life of a modern homesteader and mountain woman, weaving the outdoors into the fabric of daily life. Whether tending this McKenzie River homestead hearth or a campfire in the backcountry, I find great enjoyment in the work of a sustainable life. Gather around as I share my tales of outdoor adventure, conservation, restoration, land stewardship, wildcrafting, handcrafting, growing food, and keeping chickens. It is my hope to share ideas and inspiration, and strengthen connections with the land and wild places. Read More…
