A Mountain Hearth

Tales of Modern Homesteading and Outdoor Adventure

August 28, 2015

Banjo Pickin’ in the Garden

My newest needlefelted wall hanging is a celebration of growing food, working hard, pickin’ an old-time tune, and enjoying the simple things in life. In the heat of the afternoon, it’s time to sit back in the shade of the
pear tree for some banjo pickin’. The vegetables ripen in the field, the
chickens scratch away in the orchard, and some fine old-time music
floats on the breeze. It’s a celebration of living life close to the
earth.

You can check it out in my Etsy shop here:

Welcome

Out here in Oregon, I enjoy the rough-hewn life of a modern homesteader and mountain woman, weaving the outdoors into the fabric of daily life. Whether tending this McKenzie River homestead hearth or a campfire in the backcountry, I find great enjoyment in the work of a sustainable life. Gather around as I share my tales of outdoor adventure, conservation, restoration, land stewardship, wildcrafting, handcrafting, growing food, and keeping chickens. It is my hope to share ideas and inspiration, and strengthen connections with the land and wild places. Read More…
